What’s in a name? Quite a lot of history! Worldwide Quest is a twenty year-old blend of Worldwide Adventures and Quest Nature Tours. It’s a story of two well-travelled explorers coming together to create a very special travel company that is a reflection of their personal experiences and passions.

In 1972, while a student at the Himalayan Mountaineering institute Lewie Gonsalves was inspired by Tenzing Norgay and his quest for adventure began. With extensive experience as a trekking guide, Lewie Gonsalves created Worldwide Adventures, first in Australia and then in Canada, offering active vacations with a cultural touch. Early tours included trekking in Nepal, biking in Vietnam, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro and hiking the Inca Trail. A spirit of adventure continued to infuse all the tours Lewie created over the years, many of which he led personally. In 1998, a full range of Cultural Explorations was added to the mix. Most recently the GastroNomad series of food and wine tours carries that same spirit of adventure into the world of experiential travel.

Barry Griffith’s love of learning and teaching brought him from the classroom out into the world of nature offering natural history focused tours first within Canada and soon after throughout the world. Quest’s first tour in 1970 was to the High Arctic (a destination we still travel to) and soon Barry was scouring all seven continents to bring a range of destinations to a growing community from all walks of life. When land was not enough, Quest took to the sea and developed a range of expedition cruises. Quest Nature Tours has grown to be the largest operator of nature tours and expedition cruising in Canada.

Built on the dreams of these two intrepid voyagers, Worldwide Quest has grown slowly and steadily and now offers trips in every corner of the world, delivered to you by a select group of dedicated and well-travelled professionals.
