The hallowed and holy city of Jerusalem is the starting point for any Israeli exploration. Many old maps showed Jerusalem as the centre of the world and it remains today a meeting point of cultures as the historic Old City is divided into 4 quarters – Jewish, Armenian, Christian and Muslim. The New City holds a different kind of appeal with its diverse culinary options and many museums. A trip to the Israel wouldn’t be complete without floating in the Dead Sea that lies a stunning 400 metres below sea level and is curiously devoid of life due to its tremendous salt content. Elsewhere in the wilds of Israel, life is found in abundance through the migratory birds such as the elegant European and Blue-cheeked Bee-eaters. Though the country is small, its offerings to the yearning traveller are plentiful.
