The Story Behind the Photo:

I always bring a Canadian flag when I travel to Myanmar. We were staying at the Aureum Palace, which is located on the grounds of the former Governor of Burma' Residence in Pwin Oo Lwin (formerly known as Maymyo.) During the hot summer months, the British Colonial Government would move from Rangoon to Maymyo because of its cooler climate in the hills. During World War 2 the original structures were destroyed, for some reason recently rebuild by business tycoon "Tay Za."

We decided to symbolically take back the Governor's Residence for Canada by singing the national anthem on the front steps. The group picture and flag was my idea; Peter Tasker added the singing component and all group members joined in (hence our mouths all open), first in English then followed by a couplet or two in French.
