You’ll begin in Tel Aviv, rising from the sand dunes at the water’s edge. The defiantly modernistic Bauhaus style architecture is being seriously preserved, and the city bubbles with energy. Then it’s off by private car to the Sea of Galilee, the lyrical shores of which were the birthplace of Christianity. With your private guide, you’ll tour the biblical sites of Armageddon and Nazareth, the ancient Roman site at Caesarea and the lively Druze villages. Crossing into Jordan, another layer of history awaits. You’ll take in the well-preserved ruins at Jerash and spend a full day exploring the wonders of Petra, among the most impressive archaeological sites in the world. A day off from history lets you experience the amazing buoyancy of the Dead Sea. You’ll return to Israel, crossing to visit the great sites of the Judean desert: Qumran, where the Dead Sea scrolls were found; and Masada, a testimony to courage and the power of faith. Your trip concludes in Jerusalem, visiting the old and the new cities. There are extraordinary experiences here. The Dome of the Rock is the crown upon a 4,000 year tradition of belief. A walk in the Hassidic Jewish quarter of Mea Shearim is a glimpse at a miraculously surviving fragment of Eastern European Jewry and a tradition that makes Israel unique.
