Russia’s Far East Expedition Cruise

Aug 10-22, 2020

13 days | Russia | Expedition Cruise

The far east of Russia has always had an air of mystery about it. On this exquisite voyage, we travel by ship west from Alaska across the legendary Bering Sea to explore a land that time has largely left behind. Here in the regions of Chukotka and Kamchatka, you will discover places endowed with incredible natural beauty, where stark mountains and cliffs abut wild shores, where walrus repose and seabirds swirl above. Bears graze in verdant hillside meadows while cool streams flow downhill towards the ocean where Orcas course. Each day and each discovery will form a strong impression upon us. At various points along the remote coast, we also find small settlements of local peoples who maintain the traditions of their ancestors who have lived on these lands for many generations. They welcome us onto their territories and give us a chance to see their way of life, which while inevitably influenced by Mother Russia, is undeniably indigenous to this place. Our discoveries will be complemented by expert presentations on topics including the history, geology, wildlife and botany of these regions.

Crossing the Bering is a rare chance to witness nature in all her raiment. Beautiful tundra walks during wonderfully long days, cultural demonstrations, and wonderful birding and wildlife will make this voyage a life-changing experience. Join us for a rare opportunity to discover remote shores across the Bering Sea!
