This tour is presented by the alumni associations of the University of Alberta, the University of Saskatchewan, York University, McMaster University, Trent University, and the University of Guelph. All are welcome!

Explore the scenic Dalmatian Coast in two ways on this active tour! From our floating base –an exclusively-charted 36-person vessel– we cycle the exceptionally beautiful islands to experience the interaction of sea and land, culture, and nature.

Marvel at the beauty of Dubrovnik’s old town with ancient city walls and beautiful baroque buildings. Feast your eyes on the famous Diocletian Palace in Split. Explore the string of beautiful historic towns from Hvar to Trogir. Delight in the scent of lavender and rosemary as we cycle in the countryside passed walled fields and along olive groves and cypress gardens.

In between cycling excursions, we cruise on board the M/Y Magellan exclusively chartered for this group. You’ll enjoy breakfast and dinner on board and have a packed lunch to take with you on your daily cycling excursions, usually choosing between longer or shorter bike rides. Both Ebikes and regular bicycles are available.

Enjoy traditional Dalmatian cuisine as you discover the exceptional natural beauty of the South Dalmatian coastline and islands.

Ship Information

The M/Y Magellan is an elegant two-masted motor yacht with just 18 cabins and a beautifully furnished saloon and bar. The covered aft deck and spacious sundeck provide comfortable outdoor seating areas. The swimming platform at the stern ensures easy access to the glistening waters for a refreshing dip. Expect delicious cuisine; the ship owner is a member of the Cooking Academy for Traditional Dalmatian Cuisine.

The vessel’s guest cabins (10 – 12 square meters), have air-conditioning and private bathroom with shower. Above deck there are seven cabins with a double bed (200 x 160cm) and four cabins with two twin beds (200 x 90cm). Below deck there two cabins with double bed (200x160cm) and five cabins with two twin beds (200x90cm).

Your Tour Leader

Sylvia Chrobak has spent over 20 years in the postsecondary sector in Alberta joining the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies at the University of Alberta in the spring of 2003. Her leadership role as Executive Manager of the institute has her oversee the implementation of all Wirth Institute programs including the operationalizing of its scholarly and academic activities.
