Japan with the Womens Travel Network '25

Mar 22-22, 2025

11 days | Japan | Womens Travel Network

Japan is a beautiful, intricately designed puzzle, artfully integrating its proud ancient culture with the most modern of everything. We start with Tokyo’s full-tilt-ahead city life. While enjoying some of the most intriguing modern architecture, we also visit the ancient temple at Asakusa and make time to shop for spectacular souvenirs, from realistic plastic food to antique kimonos. After visiting iconic Mount Fuji, it’s on to Kyoto, the epitome of tradition where we discover some of the most famous gardens in the world, from the monastic stone garden to the stroll garden of the Golden Pavilion. With free time in Kyoto, there is the chance to visit a silk dye house to see how kimonos are made or walk the back alleys of the Gion where geishas can still be seen on their way to appointments. A poignant and moving visit to historic Hiroshima and time spent at scenic Miyajima Island conclude our memorable trip through this fascinating country.

We are staying in Western-style hotels, and together we get to explore the traditions of sake, gardens, and geishas as well as the fast-paced city buzz and electronic towns — the fascinating juxtaposition that is Japan today.

I enjoyed Hiroshima the best. Going to Miyajima Island by cable car with the locals was a great experience. Also going to Kosanji Temple was breathtaking. These three days were amazing!!! - Quest Traveller
My highlight was dressing as a Geisha and having lunch and seeing their artistry of dance and able to ask them questions. Another highlight was speaking to an Atomic Bomb survivor and pinning on a poppy to his lapel. Being a Veteran of 28 years - this was awesome. - Quest Traveller
The floats in Takayama were interesting. I really liked the castle in Matsumoto and the old town we visited. - Quest Traveller
